Wills and Power of Attorney (POA) should be an essential part of any financial plan. A Will is a written document stating who will inherit your assets upon your death and who will be in charge of administering your estate (called an “executor”).

Powers of Attorney allow you to appoint someone to make decisions for you, in the event that you are unable to do so, due to being disabled or otherwise incapacitated. There are two distinct types of Powers of Attorney: Powers of Attorney for property (which deal with financial matters), and Powers of Attorney for personal care (primarily dealing with medical care and treatment).
